Orpheus and Eurydice: God of the Muses, Orpheus, went to the underworld to get back his beloved Eurydice with the power of his song. He stunned the Gods and let her go, under one condition. He could not look back at Eurydice before leaving the underworld. He couldn't help it and looked, and he lost Eurydice forever.

The Cicada myth: Humans were taught by the muses how to sing. They loved it so much they sang constantly and did not eat or drink or slept and they all died and the God's transformed them into Cicada's. Cicada's were bugs that seemed to sing, so they could sing forever.
